Dear Sir/Madam:

Greetings!

A group of friends, students and associates of Dr. Dante L. Ambrosio, a professor from the History Department of the College of Social Sciences and Philosophy, is organizing a fund raising activity for Dr. Ambrosio’s pending heart operation and treatment.  Dr. Ambrosio has been teaching History in UP for the last 29 years and has been actively involved in research particularly in the field of ethnoastronomy. This interest in ethnoastronomy has brought him to research how early Filipinos used stars and the constellations in hunting, planting, fishing and seafaring.  Dr. Ambrosio spent a considerable amount of time interviewing the Badjaos of Tawi-tawi in an effort to record the rich knowledge retained by the elders of indigenous communities which may be lost if not passed on to the next generation.

While his family has been exhausting every means possible to provide for his needs we think that a little help from his friends would mean a lot to Dr. Ambrosio.  It is for this reason that I am writing you in the hope of soliciting your support in this truly life-saving endeavour by being donor in this event.  Each donor ticket is priced at P1000 and is available at the History Department.  The tribute which we are coordinating with his colleagues in the History Department headed by Dr. Malou Bolinao, Dr. Ambrosio’s former students and several former members of Samasa and the People’s Service Corps, is scheduled for March 13, 2010, Saturday, from 5:00-8:00 PM at the Melchor Hall Theater, College of Engineering in UP Diliman.

Should you wish to discuss the details of this letter further, please feel free to call me at 922-0020/926-0020/426-5197/435-0010 or through my mobile at 0917-8832108.

We hope for your favourable response.

Thank you very much and more power to you!

Sincerely yours,

ROCHELLE M. RAZO

Coordinator
